Sports betting is complicated and it can be intimidating as a new bettor. We’re here to help.

Class is in session. Welcome to Betology. It’s betting terminology broken down by Professor Doug here. All right. So the term we have for today is lean.
Doug
It’s a term we often use in the betting space. And it just means an opinion. So it doesn’t mean you want to wager on the game. You lean that way. So if you had to pick it, that’s where I would bet. Or if I’m going to pick em league where I have to pick every game I lean that way, right? So it just says the most mild opinion there ever was, I lean to the Lakers or I lean to the Chiefs or whatever, lean to the Yankees. But sometimes it’s basically saying, but I don’t see betting value in it, meaning the price is right, like either the point spread is fair or the money line is fair. There’s no perceived edge, so there’s no need to bet it, but I do lean that direction. It’s just a mere slightest of opinions on that team or whatever.
Mariah
Okay, so kind of like a hypothetical if you were to pick it, there you have it.
Doug
Right. So you can even incorporate it into the day to day existence. If you had to pick between two restaurants and you’re trying to pick one with a friend, you’re like, well, should we go sushi? Should we go pizza? I lean pizza. Yeah. But meaning I’m indifferent, but if I maybe it’s 51-49 kind of thing.
Mariah
Okay, so pizza, pizza every time, but sushi is great. Okay, so there you have it. That’s Lean. I hope you learned a lot today and class is out of session.
