The betting market indicates Canada’s 31-year Stanley Cup drought is likely to continue but the Edmonton Oilers do have more than a puncher’s chance.

The Oilers are slight +110 underdogs in the Western Conference Finals, as they face the Dallas Stars. Dallas won two of the three regular season meetings and will have the home-ice advantage.

Led by superstar Connor McDavid, Edmonton is the only Canadian team remaining in the conference finals. The 27-year-old was not even born when the Montreal Canadiens raised Lord Stanley in 1993.

The Oilers own the top-ranked power play unit with a 36.8% conversion rate.

Edmonton is seeking its first Stanley Cup Final appearance since 2006 and also the first in the McDavid era.
