Scottie Scheffler is receiving treatment from oddsmakers that we have not seen since the peak of Tiger Woods – 15 years ago.

Scheffler is a +300 U.S. Open favorite this week, which are the shortest odds for a major championship since Woods at the 2009 PGA Championship. Woods did not win that tournament, as he was caught from behind by Y.E. Yang on Sunday’s back nine.

Scheffler has finished in the top 10 in 11 straight tournaments he has entered. He’s also accomplished that feat in 22 of his last 25 tourneys. DraftKings has the odds for that at -250.

Some sportsbooks are offering outright markets that remove Scheffler. That means the index includes every single golfer besides Scheffler and bettors wager on the top finisher of that group. So if Scheffler were to win the U.S. Open, that market pays out tickets on the second-place finisher.
