After a mini break for the WNBA because of the commissioners cup, i .e. every team had to have off because they didn’t know which two teams would be playing on Tuesday night, we get a bunch of action back on the hardwood on Thursday. NBA TV, so nationally televised game, Washington Mystics hosting the Connecticut Sun. Remember Connecticut was the last undefeated in the league, arguably the best team. That’s turned out to not be the case as the Sun are nine and a half point road favorites here in the nation’s capital.

Now, just a reminder, Connecticut’s been fine. Like they are one of the best teams, but the three games they’ve been an underdog, they’ve lost all three. So it’s really an imbalance schedule. They hadn’t played the best teams yet. Then they do a West coast trip, lose to Seattle, lose to Vegas. So they’re kind of where we thought they’d be right now. As for the Mystics, 0 and 12 start to the season, 4 and 13. Yeah, they’ve won four of five, picking up wins against the wings twice, Sky and Dream losing to the Fever in a tight one.

I like the Mystics here. This Sun team, they do have some potent offense and can pull away and they’ve shown that they can cover some big numbers, but they’ve also shown they can’t. And I think the Mystics at home keep this inside the number. I don’t think they’re going to win, but they are showing signs of life even without their two best players, Brittany Sykes and Shakira Austin. I think they have some inside out going with some shooting. Dolson needs some help down low because she hasn’t played down low that often. And I think the Sun can, I think Bree Jones can have a field day here, but I’ll roll with the home dog here plus nine and a half points, which is quite a bit.
