Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen took home his first NFL MVP award in a surprise result, cashing odds around +850 entering the season.
Allen edged out Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson with 27 first-place votes, compared to Jackson’s 23. Allen is the first MVP in 21 years to win the award without being named All-Pro First Team.
Since each distinction has the same 50 voters, many assumed Jackson would win a third MVP after he earned first team honors.
Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell beat out Detroit’s Dan Campbell for Coach of the Year honors. O’Connell entered the season with 20-to-1 odds at BetMGM.
The true longshot to cash is Denver’s Patrick Surtain, who earned the Defensive Player of the Year award. He entered the season with odds in the neighborhood of 125-to-1.
Bengals QB Joe Burrow was among the favorites for Comeback Player of the Year and did in fact win the award, cashing tickets around +250 from the preseason.
