The summer is flying by and NFL training camps will open next week. That means it is a good time to think about some futures bets. Here are some bets to consider and one to stay away from.
NFC East Winner: Philadelphia Eagles +165
The Dallas Cowboys are the current favorites to win the NFC East at +135, but with the way the offseason has gone the Eagles are the play here. Dallas lost several key players in Amari Cooper, Cedrick Wilson, La’el Collins and Randy Gregory. The Cowboys won’t be bad, but those are some significant losses. The Eagles only got better after adding a true number one receiver in AJ Brown. Along with the fact that the NFC East has not had a repeat winner since 2004, the Eagles are a good bet to win the division.
Seattle Seahawks: Under 5.5 Wins +120
For some reason, it seems that the Seahawks chose Pete Carroll over Russell Wilson. That will not lead to good results in the short-term. A quarterback room of Drew Lock, Geno Smith and Jacob Eason does not inspire much confidence. Looking at their schedule, six wins looks to be one of the best scenarios for Seattle this year. The under is the play here, and it’s great value as well as plus odds.
A Super Bowl Pick
Los Angeles Rams: +1100
It is really hard to repeat in the NFL, but the value is too good here. The Rams should be one of the contenders in the NFC once again. The Green Bay Packers got weaker by losing star receiver Davante Adams, and Aaron Rodgers does not have a great track record in the playoffs as of late. The Buccaneers look like a top contender as well, but the NFC is a much easier path than the AFC. The Rams are a good bet, especially as the team with the fifth-best odds.
Stay Away
NFC West Winner: San Francisco 49ers +150
The 49ers will likely be a playoff contender again this year and the odds might be tempting here, but the quarterback situation is questionable. Jimmy Garappolo isn’t great, and does the coaching staff really believe in Trey Lance? There are just too many questions to bet on San Francisco this year.
