Much like our Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em series, we’re going to find the best advice for fantasy football waiver wire targets this NFL season. Instead of going to a bunch of different sites, we’re going to have a one-stop shop so you can be quick on the waiver wire. Let’s take a look at the top targets for week one.

I don’t know what it is, but it seems most fantasy experts love Jameis Winston. He was big in our Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em piece for week one, and he makes a return here as well. Three of the five outlets had Winston as the top quarterback to look out for on the waiver wire. He missed a lot of time due to injury last season, but maybe he is worth picking up if he shows he can limit the turnovers early on.
There are some interesting options when it comes to running backs, but Zamir White is perhaps the most exciting. Zamir White was mentioned by multiple outlets, and beat reporters for the Raiders have said that the rookie is expected to carve out a role in the offense as the season goes along. It seems as if it’s not just going to be the Josh Jacobs show in the backfield this season for Las Vegas. If you are thin on running back depth, White could be someone to stash on your bench in hopes of an emergence later in the season.
When it came to wide receivers, there was not much of a consensus as far as individual players. However, a common tip was to keep an eye on the rookies and how much of a role they have in their games. Whether it’s George Pickens, Skyy Moore, Wan’Dale Robinson or Jahan Dotson, keep an eye on the number of targets they get. Get in early on rookie receivers. If you hit on one that makes a big splash, that could be how you win your league.
David Njoku and Austin Hooper are tight ends who were mentioned multiple times. If you are in a big league, there’s a chance these guys won’t be available, but it is good to check. Hooper is available in around 50% of leagues, but that should be higher. Njoku is someone who has been in the NFL for a while, but should have an increased role with Hooper off the roster.
Keep an eye on the waiver wire and how these players perform this weekend, and check back next week for more waiver wire targets.
