The second race of the 2023 Formula 1 season took place this past weekend (Mar. 19) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and it was a thrilling race from start to finish. The Red Bull team continued its dominance in the season, with Sergio Perez securing his first win of the season. It was a hard-fought victory for the Mexican driver, who finished second in the previous race.
Max Verstappen, who won the first race of the season, has to settle for second place in Jeddah. The Dutchman impressed everyone with his race since he started the race in the 16th position and was able to finish the race in second place. Fernando Alonso put in another impressive performance for the Aston Martin team, securing his second podium finish of the season.
With two races down in the season, Red Bull leads with 87 points, and Aston Martin and Mercedes are tied for second place with 38 points each. It’s clear that Red Bull has started the season as the team to beat, but there is still a long way to go in the season, and anything can happen.
In the driver’s standings, Verstappen leads the way with 44 points, closely followed by Perez with 43 points. Alonso is in third place with 30 points, showing that he still has what it takes to compete at the sport’s highest level. It’s shaping to be an exciting season for F1 fans, with several drivers and teams in contention for the championship.
The next race on the calendar is the Australian Grand Prix, which will take place on Apr. 2 at 1:00 a.m. EST at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, and it’s one of the most popular races on the calendar. It will be interesting to see if Red Bull can maintain its early-season form or if Mercedes and Aston Martin can mount a challenge, and F1 fans around the world are eagerly anticipating the next race as well as the twists and turns the season will undoubtedly bring.
