The United States entered the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as the protibial favorites, having won the past two cups already, but was knocked out 5-4 on penalty kicks by Sweden in the Round of 16. Now, the field is wide open. We’re going to go over some of the new betting favorites and chances to win it all.
England
With the U.S. out, England is now the betting favorite at +200. England is the fourth-ranked team in the world and just punched its ticket to the quarterfinal round. Even though it took penalties for the team to advance against Nigeria, England’s portion of the bracket is a bit easier and has a good chance of reaching the final.
Spain
Spain has the second-best odds of winning the tournament and is already in the quarterfinal round. Spain’s odds currently sit at +340 and is ranked sixth in the world. After thumping Switzerland in the Round of 16, Spain has a tough task ahead facing the Netherlands. But, with the United States out on its side of the bracket, Spain’s odds are looking way better and better.
Japan
Japan has been a solid team in international play and entered as the eleventh-ranked team in the world. Japan has the third-best odds of winning the tournament at +430 and will face Sweden in the quarterfinals. While the team gets the advantage of missing the United States, we’ll see if Sweden is too much for Japan to handle as well.

The field is wide open and even some of the teams that aren’t favorites at the moment have reasons to believe they could take home the ultimate prize. Sweden just knocked off the best team in the world and is as dangerous as any other team. The Netherlands made it to the final in the last World Cup and has a veteran squad, and this experience can help the team a lot down the stretch. All in all, this tournament should be exciting and unpredictable now that Goliath has been taken down.
