A thrilling road win catapulted Tua Tagovailoa to the NFL MVP betting co-favorite at +700 with Patrick Mahomes. Oddsmakers lowered the Miami quarterback’s odds from +1800, representing the largest adjustment after one game, outside of the season-ending injury to Aaron Rodgers.

The Dolphins also became AFC East favorites at +135, largely because the New York Jets lost Rodgers. 15 of the last 16 MVPs were quarterbacks and 13 of the last 14 won their division.

Tagovailoa passed for a league-high 466 yards and three touchdowns in Miami’s 36-34 win at the Los Angeles Chargers. The lefty has thrived in coach Mike McDaniel’s pass-happy offense. Last year, in McDaniel’s debut season, Tagovailoa led the league in yards per attempt and finished second in quarterback rating, although he did miss four games.

Miami is currently the AFC’s third-favorite at +700 at DraftKings. Last year’s conference odds only reached as low as +900, according to SportsOddsHistory.com, despite a 3-0 start.
