For the first time this entire season, USC quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams is no longer the betting favorite to win the award. Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. now has that distinction at +200, despite have a bye this past weekend.
Williams produced more “Heisman moments” in a thrilling win over Arizona on Saturday, outlasting the Wildcats in triple overtime, 43-41. He accounted for four touchdowns and saved undefeated USC from losing as a three-touchdown favorite.
Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel has entered the top five in Heisman odds after an impressive showing against Texas in the Red River Rivalry. Gabriel’s odds dropped from +1600 to +1200, following OU’s wild 34-30 victory. The UCF transfer threw the game-winning TD pass with 15 seconds left.
Several other quarterbacks round out the top contenders, including Oregon’s Bo Nix (+600), Florida State’s Jordan Travis (+1600), and UNC’s Drake Maye (+1800). Maye saw his Heisman odds crash from (+4000) to (+1700) after accounting for nearly 500 yards of total offense and four TDs in a win over Syracuse.
