We haven’t talked a ton of summer league action, but a championship game in Las Vegas certainly warrants some attention. Both these teams undefeated Grizzlies against the Heat. Memphis a two point favorite over under 185 and a half. Just to give you a little background, Scottie Pippen Jr. Yes, the son of Scottie Pippen had a triple double in the semi -finals, 23, 10 and 10. Trying to offset the production they lost with Zach Edey’s injury. So, Edey started strong, became the Rookie of the Year betting favorite in most markets, and then he’s out for the rest of Summer League, so missed the semis.
And then some other guys who definitely played well for Memphis, G .G. Jackson, some of the NBA junkies, certain might know him. He came up, had a nice run when they were so depleted with injuries. So, he had 20 points in the semis, and then Jalen Wells, who played at Washington State, had 28.
As for their opponent, the Miami Heat might have gotten a steal in the draft 15th overall. I believe Kel’el Ware, the big guy from Indiana previously played at Oregon as well. He had 18 points. Josh Christopher, who’s played some of the G League also from an ASU in his college days, 23 points and then Pelle Larsson out of Arizona. So a fellow Pac -12 guy, 21 points for him. So I like both rosters. Obviously they’re undefeated. They’re both playing well. I would lay it with Memphis. I think the difference is G .G. Jackson, just how much time he’s played in the NBA.
I think he had 19 shot attempts in the semis and I think he can catch fire. This guy can go for 30 plus if he gets caught catches fire. So as much as Miami’s just as much part of the discussion and as every you know good of a chance to win this thing. I’ll lay that short number with Memphis. I think the difference maker is Jackson for sure.
