The ground-breaking 12-team college football playoff begins tonight with an intriguing in-state battle and snow in the forecast.

In South Bend, #7 Notre Dame is a 6.5-point home favorite over #10 Indiana with an over/under of 50.5. The point spread had been hovered around 7.5 points until the market started to move down within 24 hours of kickoff.

The Fighting Irish suffered a monumental upset in September, losing as a 28-point home favorite against Northern Illinois. Since then, Notre Dam has won 10 straight games, going 9-1 ATS during this run. The lone ATS loss was winning by 25 as a 27-point favorite.

Meanwhile, Indiana has been one of the nation’s best stories, while Curt Cignetti earned national coach of the year honors. The Hoosiers are 11-1, leaning on Cignetti’s offensive background. Quarterback Kurtis Rourke has thrived, although the offense struggled against Michigan and Ohio State.

The Notre Dame defense is one of the nation’s best. The stout secondary is only allowing 151 passing yards per game, which ranks second-best in the nation.
