Bet-ology: definition of “Cooler” 🎥

This term is used to describe an unlucky person or someone who brings bad luck to other gamblers. Often the drama can be a bit much.

Bryan: All right Doug, this is where you sit down you make me smarter you enlighten me on things and terms bet-ology obviously and you already introduced me to a ton of stuff now we’re gonna go with cooler. So uh does this have any um layover with poker.

Doug: Yes It’s got it’s all part of the betting atmosphere 

Bryan: Ok 

Doug: and usually like a positive term like when you’re a cool guy right

Bryan: Oh I appreciate that no yeah

Doug: But this is the opposite of that because you want to be hot in gambiling so cooler is the opposite and typically coolers are labeled as people with inherently bad luck

Bryan: Ah, 

Who in fact urban and urban casinos with higher coolers and go stand next to a guy is winning a bunch of the craps table and beating the house or the black jack head 

Bryan: Go put some juju on this guy over here 

Doug: Never existed but there are it this is more like the fraternal component of gambling we all have a buddy who may be a cooler 

Bryan: oh yes 

Doug: And things like that 

Bryan: Chris win is his name here in Las Vegas. He oh my he’s the

ultimate cooler if he bets the same bet that you bet you’re guaranteed to lose that bet 

Doug: That’s the option so it’s it’s a fun there’s variations of the terms and things like that but cooler is a fun term as long as the people aren’t losing a bunch to throw at friends and to house it’s things like that it’s someone who’s going to cool off someone who’s running

Bryan: So if you’re watching the Bronx tail and your South yeah you don’t want that character the guy’s name was wish I guess he’s the ultimate cooler 

Doug: Yes 

Bryan: Okay

Doug: you don’t want to be on the same side as

the cooler 

Bryan: I can’t see his face 

Doug: You don’t you don’t want him anywhere near

you either 

Bryan: oh okay all right I liked it do you have anyone that’s personally like a cooler to you

Doug: No but there’s been times over the years you get superstitious like the sit in the same spot on the couch things like that and you know someone walks in the room and their team that’s winning is like get back out get out of the room you know things like 

Bryan: Okay they just made a commercial with that as a matter of fact 

Doug: Oh boy of course they did 

Bryan: yeah you walk in you weren’t wearing that shirt when we bet last time take that shirt off I got you okay the cooler
