The new 12-team college football playoff has presented unique territory for sports fans, and the betting market has a unique situation amongst the favorites.

Predictably, top-ranked and lone undefeated Oregon is a consensus favorite. However, Texas does not have a bye and must play an extra game but is still a +360 co-favorite at most sportsbooks. The reason is what is seen as a relatively easy path for the fifth-seeded Longhorns.

#2 seed Georgia has a bye and is the third favorite with consensus +400 odds. Ohio State is seeded #8 and does not have a bye, but the Buckeyes are next with +500 consensus odds.

#3 Boise State (+6500) and #4 Arizona State (+6000) also have byes but they are the two largest longshots. The Broncos and Sun Devils only received those automatic byes by winning their respective conferences.
