The most popular proposition betting day of the year is here, Super Bowl Sunday.
With the popularity and acceptance of wagering at an all-time high, sportsbooks now release thousands of prop bets that will allow you to have action on every snap of the ball and even during the halftime show. I am going to share with you my favorite prop bet that I wager on every year in the Super Bowl. Also, this year we have two rare scenarios that you have to see to believe.
Second Half + OT To Outscore First Half: 16-6-1 ATS
Since the year 2000, the second half has outscored the first half at over a 70 percent clip. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why this is such a profitable bet. In big games, teams usually start slow and play conservatively. No one wants to make a mistake and players can be tight. In the second half, it’s a free for all. Teams will open up the entire offense and play like there is no tomorrow.
Below is a chart of the last 23 Super Bowls.

Regular Season MVPs Are 0-9 Since 2001 In The Super Bowl
The Most Valuable Player hasn’t won the Super Bowl since Kurt Warner in 1999. This list includes Tom Brady (2x), Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Peyton Manning (2x), Shaun Alexander, Rich Gannon, and Kurt Warner.
Regular Season Passing Yards Leader Has NEVER Won The Super Bowl
That’s right. The NFL Passing Yards Leader is 0-6 in the Super Bowl. Can 2023 NFL MVP and Passing Yards Leader Patrick Mahomes buck both these trends on Sunday and stop this drought?
