McDavid MVP favorite for underdog Oilers

Although the Edmonton Oilers are underdogs in the Stanley Cup Final, their star, Connor McDavid, is the +200 betting favorite at FanDuel for the Conn Smythe Trophy, which is awarded to the playoff MVP.

McDavid is a 3-time league MVP (Hart Trophy) and widely considered the league’s best player. If the Oilers upset the Florida Panthers as +110 underdogs, McDavid figures to be named MVP.

The next three favorites all play for Florida. Center Aleksander Barkov is the second favorite at +380, while standout goalie Sergei Bobrovsky is +400 and Matthew Tkachuk is +600.

Only five goalies have won the Conn Smythe over the past two decades.

McDavid is an Ontario native and was drafted first overall in 2015 by Edmonton. He currently leads all players with 31 playoff points.

A Canadian team has not won the Stanley Cup since 1993.
