Week 16 in the NFL is here and there are a ton of games with playoff implications. Here are some of the games you might want to bet on this weekend.
Season Record: 19-25-4
Lions (-2.5) @ Panthers
Pick: Lions -2.5
The Lions have not done me wrong over the last couple of weeks. They have won six of their last seven games, with the only loss coming to the Bills on Thanksgiving. After beating the Jets last week, Detroit has a great shot at running the table. The Panthers have played better football since Matt Rhule’s departure, but this shouldn’t be too much of a test for the Lions.
Bengals (-3) @ Patriots
Pick: Bengals -3
It’s easy to forget that the Bengals started this season 0-2. Since then, they have won 10 of their last 12 games, and are one of the hottest teams in the NFL. Even after falling down 17-0 to the Buccaneers last weekend, they won that game comfortably. The Patriots are coming off an embarrassing loss to the Raiders, and despite being at home, they should have a tough time beating the Bengals. Expect Cincinnati to cover.
Eagles @ Cowboys (-4.5)
Pick: Cowboys -4.5
I know picking favorites isn’t always the best strategy, but it just seems like everything is lining up for Dallas this weekend. Gardner Minshew is a good backup quarterback and he is capable of winning games, especially with the roster the Eagles have, but Dallas still does have a strong defense. With the Cowboys being at home, expect them to cover.
Gas Station Sushi (Stay Away)
Raiders @ Steelers (-2.5)
This game is going to be must-watch because it is taking place on the 50th anniversary of the immaculate reception, and it will be an emotional one because of the recent death of Franco Harris. But don’t bet on this one. Whether it’s positive or negative, the Raiders just have weird stuff happen to them. In the last couple of weeks they have been beaten by Baker Mayfield, and won a game on a miracle against the Patriots. This one should be close the whole way, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if something crazy happened.
