The betting odds suggest Canada has its best chance to end its 31-year Stanley Cup drought in more than a decade.

The Edmonton Oilers are slight +110 underdogs to the Florida Panthers (-130) with the American squad having the home-ice advantage.

A Canadian team last appeared in the Cup Final in 2021, but the Montreal Canadiens were +240 underdogs and lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning. In 2011, the Vancouver Canucks were -240 favorites but were upset by the Boston Bruins.

After reaching the second round and losing to eventual champion Las Vegas, Edmonton started poorly this season. The Oilers fired their coach after a 3-9-1 start but rebounded to have separate win streaks of eight games and 16 games to finish second in the Pacific Division.

The last Canadian team to win the Stanley Cup is the Montreal Canadiens in 1991.

The Panthers are trying to become the first team since 2009 to hoist the trophy after losing in the Stanley Cup Final the previous season. Prior to that, the Oilers achieved the feat in 1984.

Game 1 is Saturday in Sunrise, FL. The Panthers are -135 favorites with an over/under of 5.5.
