Sports betting is complicated and it can be intimidating as a new bettor. We’re here to help.
Sometimes picking the point spread feels a little too difficult. Another option is the over/under — you can literally wager on the total amount of points scored, regardless of who wins the game. So, if the over/under is forty-two points, you can bet over or under. You can bet the over and win, with a twenty-four to twenty score, or even forty-three to zero. After all, you don’t care who wins or who scores the points, as long as the combined point total is higher than the set over/under number. There are also over/unders for a variety of outcomes — like one particular team’s total points, or maybe one and a half goals in the first period of a hockey game. Recreational bettors tend to bet the over because almost everyone likes to see scoring — and likes rooting for things to happen, rather than not happen.
I remember my first bet, too. Now, it’s time to play.
