The first week of the NFL season is in the books and some people realized their fantasy teams aren’t as good as they initially thought. Whether a position group is thinner than you thought or one of your key players went down due to injury, this is your one-stop shop for the best waiver wire pickups for week two.

For the second week in a row, Jameis Winston is a popular pick. Unlike last week, Winston has a tough matchup against the Buccaneers defense, which held the Cowboys to three points in week one. Carson Wentz is another viable option according to three outlets. Wentz threw four touchdowns last week and seems to have a strong trio of weapons with Terry Mclaurin, Curtis Samuel, and Jahan Dotson. Wentz faces the Lions this week, who gave up 38 points to the Eagles.
Anyone who is knee-deep in fantasy football probably already knows that Jeff Wilson, Jr. is arguably the best waiver wire target, regardless of position. 49ers starting running back Elijah Mitchell has a sprained MCL and is expected to miss two months, so Wilson Jr. is going to assume the starting role for the foreseeable future. To be frank, if you are thin at running back and haven’t put in a claim for Wilson Jr., you’re probably not going to win your league.
The Commanders’ players are popular this week. Curtis Samuel is a top target according to four of the five outlets. Samuel didn’t do much in his first year at Washington and Dotson grabbed the headlines with two touchdowns, but Samuel got 11 targets and four carries in week one. Samuel should be heavily involved in the offense this season and could be a great pick-up if he can replicate what he did in his days at Carolina.
Whether you have George Kittle or just want some more tight end depth, Chargers tight end Gerald Everett could be a great target for you. He was one of the better tight ends in week one, with 54 yards and a touchdown on three receptions. Everett could be in for another game in week two, as the Chargers will face the Jaguars at home.
Check back in next week for week three.
