Waiver Wire Targets For NFL Week 3

By Ryan Bologna

Some significant injuries took place in week two of the NFL season, so that means you might need to replace some players in your fantasy lineup. If not, maybe some of those sleeper picks aren’t playing as well as you thought. Either way, here’s your cheat sheet for the waiver wire ahead of week three.

Given Trey Lance’s injury, it should come as no surprise that Jimmy Garoppolo is mentioned by every outlet this week. He isn’t the most flashy option, but Trey Lance was a risky pick in the first place. Garoppolo might produce as much as Lance would have anyway. He could be a good pickup in a pinch. Jared Goff has played good football in the first two weeks as well and could be a good addition.

Raheem Mostert is another unsurprising selection by most athletes this week. Following Mike McDaniel from San Francisco to Miami, he should have a significant role this season. The Dolphins offense has plenty of firepower when it comes to the passing game with Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Tua Tagovailoa looking like he was back at Alabama against Baltimore.

Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard is a popular name this week. He is the longest-tenured player on the Giants roster, and he has the most chemistry with Daniel Jones. The Giants coaching staff does not seem to be a big fan of Kenny Golladay, and Kadarius Toney has a super high ceiling but his role in the offense is uncertain. Shepard is likely the most reliable Giants receiver for fantasy purposes.

Logan Thomas was easily the most-mentioned tight end for this week. The position is getting thin in most leagues, so it is a good idea to pick him up. His ceiling isn’t as high because of the trio of Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson and Curtis Samuel, but he has performed well in the first two games of the season should continue to be a reliable tight end.
