College lacrosse saw some major shakeups in the rankings this past weekend with Notre Dame claiming the top spot and Virginia falling to third after a loss to Maryland. Here’s a recap of the action:
Notre Dame (+320)
Notre Dame, now the new top team in the country, dominated against Michigan, winning 18-8 to extend its undefeated record to 6-0. With 460 total points so far this season, the Fighting Irish are poised to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament and are considered a top contender for the national championship, with odds of +320. Next up, Notre Dame is set to face off against No. 3 Virginia next in what promises to be a thrilling matchup between two of the top teams in the league.
Maryland (+450)
Maryland men’s lacrosse team had a thrilling weekend, going from fourth to second in the country after a victory over then-No. 1 Virginia with a score of 14-13. Now sitting at 5-2 with a total of 428 points, Maryland has cemented itself as one of the top contenders in the league. Looking ahead, Maryland takes on No. 10 Penn State. With odds of +450 to win the national championship, the team is certainly a force to be reckoned with in the lacrosse world.
Virginia (+320)
As mentioned, Virginia suffered a tough loss this past weekend, ending its undefeated reign. With a record of 6-1 and 415 points, Virginia still remains a strong contender in the league and is set to take on its successor, Norte Dame, in what should be a highly anticipated match. Despite the setback, Virginia’s odds of +320 to win the national championship show that it’s still considered a favorite in the lacrosse world. Fans will be eager to see how Virginia bounces back in its upcoming games.
Duke (+800)
The Blue Devils had a successful weekend beating Air Force with a commanding score of 18-6. However, despite its strong record of 8-1 and total points of 394, the team dropped to the No. 4 spot in the country. Looking ahead, Duke will face St. Joseph’s in its next match, and its odds to win the national championship is set at +800. Duke will no doubt be looking to make a statement in all its upcoming games, especially against St. Joseph. Fans will be eager to see how the team performs in the coming weeks as the Blue Devils continue their quest for the national title.
Cornell (+1400)
Cornell had a dominating performance this past weekend, beating Yale 20-10. With a record of 5-1 and 360 points, Cornell has earned the No. 5 spot in the country and is set to take on Penn in its next game. With odds of +1400 to win the national championship, Cornell faces tough competition from other top-ranked teams. However, with its strong record and impressive performances, fans will no doubt be eager to see how Cornell continues to perform in its upcoming games.
